7:50 PM

Time for an update! I assure you any rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Things have been so busy with class and work. Last semester I completed classes in Knowledge Representation (CSE563) and a Grid Computing & Cyberinfrastructure seminar.

I'm quite pleased with how things have been going with my grades the past 4 semesters in conjunction with working full time at FSTRF for the past two and a half years. I only have one remaining semester until I obtain my M.S. in Computer Science, yay! I'll be taking Computational Biology (CSE536) and Computer Architecture (CSE590) as my final two classes in the Fall. Although things have been insanely busy with work lately, look for more updates to be forthcoming.

Wow, it's been a while since I posted last. The fall semester has started up, so things are again getting very busy very fast. I'm currently taking Cse531 (blog) and Cse510B (Grid computing & cyberinfrastructure). Stay tuned for updates and links associated with course topics.

I've just returned from a 5 day business trip to Switzerland. It was quite an interesting and enjoyable experience. I attended the IBCSG retreat in Bern, attending several presentations on upcoming clinical trials and engaging in discussions on current and future programming projects. My main focus was on talks regarding the development of the Medical Review System and Pathology Materials Tracking System - two of our major web applications which I am primarily responsible for. Some pics of the trip can be found in the gallery section, or accessed directly here.

The site is back up. I've been pretty busy since being hired at FSTRF in October of 2005. The forum is back up and all links should be fixed. My second semester has started at UB, I'm currently taking Cse512 - Advanced Operating Systems Programming and Cse635 - Advanced Information Retrieval: Multilingual Information Systems. It should be an interesting semester.

I've completed my work on the scalable e-commerce solution. Details can be found in my portfolio, which can be accessed from the link on the menu to the left. I anticipate converting it to a 3-tier model in the not too distant future.

I've added an RSS feed for site updates. This allows users to be aware of updates without visiting the site. The feed is linked in the menu to the left. To use this technology you need an RSS feed reader, or "live bookmark" capabilities in your browser (firefox for example). Read more about RSS here, information on live bookmarks can be found here.

A recent illness has really slowed down current projects. I have finished VB.NET and ASP.NET conceptually. I'm currently working on some programming projects incorporating the above technologies. I've finished a fully functional mp3 player with playlist and randomization. Currently I'm working on designing a generic e-commerce solution using ASP.NET (with VB.NET), SQL Server, and XML. This system should fully scale to the enterprise level and be easily modified to fit most applications.

Just to let everyone know, I'm still alive... The career search has not been going well, as the economy is in worse shape than I originally thought, particularly in the WNY area. I've completed my work on learning XPath and XSLT with regards to XML. Now I'm in the process of learning VB.NET. I'm glad to say the language has finally progressed into a full blown object oriented language, and the .NET framework is actually a well designed collection of language independent types and libraries. If you're interested, you can get a better understanding of what .NET is here. After completing VB.NET, I anticipate going into ASP.NET, then C#. I definately have my work cut out for me.

10:00 PM

Wow, where did the last month go? Time flies when real life is kicking your butt. I've completed most of the work I've been doing on relational databases, finishing up with PL/SQL. MFC programming has been halted, as it seems to be falling out of favor for newer technologies. I'll pick it back up if I see real need for it in the future. I've begun work on GUI development incorporating Java Beans with the Bean Builder tool in addition to web application development using Java J2EE, Java Server Pages, and Servlet technologies. Beyond that I'm looking to get into VB.NET and ASP.NET development. Then I can crack into that 1200 pg. VB.NET book I bought (ouch).

I'd like to congratulate my good friend Heather Liu on receiving her Masters degree. Way to go!
Make an attempt at posting on the forum people, seeing it blank is aggravating! :p

I've made some changes to the site, adding some javascript and changing the look a bit. Content updates have been made to the Polish, programming, and about sections. In addition to the previously mentioned projects, I've begun work on some PHP scripting and relational database development and design.

Things have slowed down a bit, as I'm looking into some additional programming technologies. Current projects and things on the horizon include: Win32 programming in VC++ .NET with MFC, J2EE and Javabeans. I'm also getting into some freelance web design. Future details to come.

5:00 PM

My apologies for the lack of updates recently. I've been busy with physical therapy and some personal programming projects. I also had an interesting trip down south for spring break, possible pics in the gallery to follow. Reflection on the insane political corruption, economic decline, and general idiocy of Erie county and Buffalo has also taken its toll.

11:00 PM

I've added a couple basic applets to the programming section, go check it out. Expect more in the near future. I've been fooling around with some Java programming the last few days, hence the lack of updates.

9:00 PM

I have added some useful words and phrases to the Polish section. Users may notice a difference in appearance of this site depending on your browser type. This difference is due to the way most browsers like IE and Netscape interpret the code, which can differ greatly. If anything looks really weird or out of place, please let me know.

More content covering the Polish alphabet and grammar has been added to the Polish section. Look back for more overall site updates coming soon.

Updates have been made to the links section. CGI scripts have been fixed on the server, and the forum is up! More content will be added soon. Unfortunately work time is restricted by how long I can sit. Damn back surgery...
